The Woman Behind the Fuchsia Hair

I am Angela Ohanu, also known as "Fuchsia Angie". I am a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist from the San Fransisco Bay Area currently residing in Atlanta, Georgia.

I attended Georgia State University for my Bachelor's of Science in 2013. After graduation I worked in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit for two years before going back to earn my Master's in Nursing, Nurse Anesthesia from Augusta University. I started practicing in spring of 2018 where I provide adult, pediatric and obstetric anesthesia at a Level 1 Trauma Center.

Towards the end of my nurse anesthesia program I created my Instagram page @fuchsiaangie, because I felt there weren't any African American CRNAs on social media that looked like me and challenged the traditional professional aesthetic. I believe beauty and brains should not be characteristics women have to choose between to be taken seriously by their peers in the work force.

I have grown my platform of @fuchsiaangie to over 11.3K followers majorly women ages 18 - 35 years old. As a working woman in the #1 trusted profession I recognize that women in healthcare desire to feel beautiful in their skin, but often neglect self care due to their demanding careers and personal lives. I bring my enthusiasm for beauty, fashion and female empowerment into one place for my followers to engage and share ideas. My goal is to educate, uplift and promote growth through education to minority women.

I have partnered with friend and influencer Aisha Allen, RN, SRNA to create the Ohanu and Allen Foundation which funds our CRNA scholarship program. 

​

I have worked with multiple beauty, medical and lifestyle brands for partnership and collaborations. I am an influencer, mentor and public speaker that makes empowerment through education my life purpose.
